“Having completed the NLC course has been an explorative journey into language learning embedded in the principles of neuroscience, coaching and the emotional dimension of human beings. The course has not only been thought-provoking, but also promising. Rachel Paling’s method has been carefully reflected on Juan Carlos Campos’ passionate delivery and interest in promoting the most optimal state for learning each and every session. His NLC acumen coupled with a well-informed opinion made the delivery of the sessions a real opportunity to discuss the importance of addressing the needs of our learners (clients) from a neuroscientific standpoint. Certainly, what was remarkable about his coaching was the dose of humanistic perspective he offered as well as his patience to answer all my questions. (Thank you, Juan Carlos!) Additionally, learning about neuroplasticity, brain waves, along with the limbic system are some of the takeaways I can now deal with more confidently. Besides, I believe, the principles of NLC can be gradually integrated in language learning and teaching (coaching), which advocates for a brain friendly approach led by the coach and a comprehensive structure, which guides learners on self-regulation to fully commit to their goals. Who would benefit from taking this course? Teachers, teacher practitioners, language lovers, professionals from all walks of life! The course syllabus deals with a number of topics, which might garner the attention of professionals working with young learners or adults. Personally, I would highly recommend this initial training to educators who are on the lookout for adding variety to their sessions while co-designing truly learner-centred experiences.
